Account Help

Creating an Edutopia account

Why should I create an Edutopia account?
An account allows you to subscribe to our free newsletters and personalize your Edutopia experience. This means we’ll highlight content you might like based on your role, grade-level preferences, and/or subject areas of expertise—if you’ve shared that information with us. Edutopia accounts are free, and we don’t share your information with anyone else.

How do I sign up for an Edutopia account?
Signing up is quick and easy. If you’re new to Edutopia, you can sign up using your Google or Facebook login. Or, if you prefer, you can use an email and password of your choice. Sign up here.

I am an email subscriber. Does that mean I have an Edutopia account?
Not necessarily. If you subscribed to the Edutopia Weekly newsletter prior to July 2020, you may not have an account. To level up, sign up for a free account. It’s the first step to personalizing your newsletters and the Edutopia.org website based on your interests.

Help! I forgot my password.
No worries—it happens. To regain access to your account, please reset your password. You will be asked to enter your email address, and we will send you an email message containing a security code and instructions to reset your password. The code is valid for one hour.

Help! I stopped receiving your newsletter and I can’t log in anymore.
If you used your Google or Facebook account to sign up for Edutopia, try logging back in with that account first. Then go to your account dashboard and check your newsletter subscription settings. If you no longer have access to your old Google or Facebook account—or you no longer control the account you signed up with—you will need to sign up for Edutopia again.

Managing your account

My email address changed. How do I update it?
If you signed up using an email address and password combination, you can update your email address anytime from your account dashboard. When you do, we will send a message to both the old address and the new one to confirm the change.

If you signed up using a Google or Facebook account, you cannot edit the email address associated with your Edutopia.org account from our website. Edutopia does not control authentication information that is maintained by third-party providers. If you’re not sure which email address or login provider you used to sign up for Edutopia and you’ve stopped receiving our newsletters, we recommend you sign up again using your preferred email address.

If you created your Edutopia account using a non-permanent email address that you’ve lost access to (e.g., you’ve changed employers or moved to a new school), please create a new account.

How do I manage my interests?
To see and manage your saved interests—such as your grade-level preferences, role, and/or subject area of expertise—log in to Edutopia.org and go to your account dashboard.

How do I subscribe to the Edutopia Weekly email newsletter?
When you sign up for an account on Edutopia.org, you can opt in to our weekly email newsletter. The Edutopia Weekly includes our top stories of the week, featuring practical classroom tips and strategies. It is personalized based on your role and the grade levels you choose. You can sign up for free here. You can also turn on this newsletter subscription via your account dashboard.

How do I subscribe to The Research Is In newsletter?
The Research Is In is a monthly roundup of the most important education research, trends, and discoveries with practical applications in the classroom, curated by our editors. You can sign up here. An Edutopia account is required to subscribe to The Research Is In. If you are already logged into your account, there is an option to add this newsletter subscription at the bottom of your account dashboard.

How do I unsubscribe from Edutopia’s newsletters?
To stop receiving an email newsletter, you can click the ‘Unsubscribe’ link at the bottom of any message. Or, you can manage your newsletter subscriptions by going to your account dashboard.

How do I delete my account?
Before you go, there are a few things you should know. If you want to unsubscribe from Edutopia’s email newsletters, you do not need to delete your account. You can make that change from your account dashboard. You can also change and/or remove your interests there, as well.

Please note that there is no way to reactivate an account once it has been deleted, although you can always create a new one.
